Please tell me in percentage that how many percent depression is curable?

Dear Ph,
It depends on whether the depression is caused by an event (tragedy) in your life or by a chemical imbalance in your brain.
If the depression started because of a death or a divorce or breakup with a long term boyfriend/girlfriend, it will usually go away after you have finished grieving.
If the depression is caused by a chemical imbalance, it is not curable, but it is treatable. As long as you take the medication(s) that is prescribed for you, as it is prescribed, and don't mix alcohol or recreational drugs with it, you'll most likely be fairly free of bothersome symptoms. Sometimes its trial and error, until the right medication or combination of medications is found that is perfect for you. Believe me, its worth while.
You can lead a normal life, although perhaps you'll have to deal with periods of depression occasionally. I can't say I've been bothered by it much and I've had it for 41 years. Its like having diabetes or heart disease. If you have those, you have to take your medicine everyday to stay alive. We have to take ours everyday to stay alive HAPPILY.
No worries!
Good luck,
Sandilynn
P.S. Please do not take Mr Ducks words too seriously. He has a Bachelor's in Psychology - he is not a Doctor of Psychology. In some states he would be allowed to hang out a shingle as a therapist but he has not gone through enough training, both textbook and hands on, to qualify as a Psychologist. In addition, Psychology teaches that "talk therapy" can cure almost any mental health problem. It CAN'T!
That's why there are Psychiatrists, who are MD's who specialize in Psychiatric treatment. In Mental Health circles, they are at the top of the food chain. They will tell you that chemical depression is not curable, but that in most cases it is very treatable with medication. Sometimes they do recommend "talk therapy" too.
